Last fall, I dipped my toe into barrel jeans. I hopped on the bandwagon and am not looking back!  Whenever I wear my Free People, We The Free barrel jeans, I inevitably get compliments.  People literally stop me to comment on them.  They are just a bit edgy (for me), while looking curated and classic. When the market speaks – I listen.  This fall, I’m going all in with barrel leg pants!

Barrel Leg Pants — Dress ’em Up or Down

With my barrel jeans I have found it truly easy to wear them on most occasions.  I can pair them with a sweater and Chelsea boots for a super casual look.  Or dress them up with a blazer and shoes or boots with a slight heel.  They have proven to be so flexible.

Unexpected Wardrobe Versatility

We all have our go-to favorites in our wardrobe.  The items that we know look good, and also make us feel good.  Much to my surprise, the barrel leg has become the single item in my closet that looks good, is somewhat unique and amazingly comfortable.  And just the act of wearing barrel leg makes a bit of a statement (again, for me).

More Barrel “Flavors”

As a marketer, I know that when your audience loves one product, if you offer it in a different flavor, color or variety, they will probably like those too. The result is that your customer buys more of your product.  The fashion industry is on to this with the barrel leg trend.  As I shopped to update my wardrove this fall, in addition to barrel jeans, I found barrel leg trousers, barrel leg khaki’s, barrel leg cargo pants.  This fall, the barrel category has exploded.

If It Works For You, Go With It!

Every time I wear my barrel jeans, I get comments and compliments.  And, honestly, I have wondered if I can have too much of a good thing?  Will they get old? Will they become my “schtick”.

Maybe, but for now, I’m going to go with it! So, I have added to my barrel leg repertoire…

Barrel Leg Khaki’s

I love chino’s as an alternative to jeans.  They are comfortable and give you a different feel.  These two pair are going to upgrade my chino game.  These are a different vibe than the jeans; still casual but with a some interest.

Barrel Leg Trousers

For a more business wear look, I’ve invested in these COS pleated barrel leg trousers.  At the store, I tried them in the beige for size and shape. But, I purchased the black pair and these will be my business-wear trouser this season.  They are a wool blend and feel substantial without being too warm.  I think these will be a solid three-season wardrobe staple. The length is slightly cropped which will work with loafers and boots.

Both of these are the COS, Pleated Barrel Wool Pants. I tried the beige on for size and ordered the black in a size 8. I love them and will be wearing them on repeat!

Barrel Leg Pants — Try Them, You Might Like Them

At 5’8″, I am fortunate to be relatively tall, but still have body complications to deal with (as I outlined in this post). I have lots of friends who are shorter than me and think they can’t wear the barrel leg.  I say, give it a try.  It may take trying on a few different brands.  But I am proof. Try on some barrel leg jeans, pants and trousers.  You may surprise yourself — and like it!
