I am fairly confident in my style.  I can put together an outfit for just about any situation.  That said, the more casual the situation, the less confident I am.    I need immediate help with my “loungewear game”.  Actually, I need more than help…I need to GET a loungewear game. I don’t have one at all.

My Starting Point

You know that time in the evening where you’re home from work or wherever you’ve been that day, you’re ready to change out of those clothes into something comfortable.  Well, I currently have a mish mash of items to choose from.  Honestly, most evenings I just hang out in my jeans.

If I do change, it’s into a collection of random pieces that I picked up along the way at TJ Maxx, Gap, my favorite Michigan State sweatshirt, etc.

I would not, unless it was a 5-alarm emergency, leave the house in my current “loungewear” collection.  Let alone go to the store or board a plane!  No, not going to happen.

The Brief — What Does Progress Look Like

As I search for a loungewear look, here’s what I’m looking for:

  • Causal, but intentional — My goal is to just look more put together around the house, for me – and anyone else that cares.  And honestly, I don’t think my family cares – they love me the way I am—and I love and appreciate that.  But I care.
  • Reasonably Priced – Because I’m not leaving the house, I can’t see spending too much money.  I’ve seen a lot of nice looking sets from Amazon, so decided to mainly focus there.  I was hoping to strike the perfect balance between quality and price point.
  • Looks good on ME —  I have a small waist (grateful) and wide-ish hips.  I have pretty thin legs (again, grateful) and some cellulite (who doesn’t).  So the cut and fabric of the pants is important.
  • Stretch goal – It would be great if I felt comfortable wearing it outside the house.  Maybe to the grocery store or run some low-key (i.e., not too visible) errands.

I probably won’t ever travel in it, but I truly admire those women who look great and feel great enough to wear a comfy set.

The Loungewear Game Contenders

Dupe of Oprah’s Favorite Lounge Set

Believe it or not, I’ve had this set in my drawer for over a year.  That’s how long I’ve been struggling to get a loungewear game.  Since I already own it, I’ll try to put it in rotation.  It’s pretty good.  The material is silky but sturdy which could take me from winter into spring.  It’s by Anrabess. I got it in the neutral apricot color in a size Medium. I feel like the pants are a little tight around the hips, outlining bulges which I’d rather hide. This set runs on the small side, so I’d recommend sizing up.  Here’s the link.

Light Blue Set

Okay, I actually like this one a lot.  It’s a great weight.  The fabric is soft, but not shiny at all. It drapes well, but doesn’t show any lumps and bumps.  This is a keeper.  I ordered a size Medium and it’s perfect.  This set is by Casly Lamiit and available in many colors. Here’s the link.

Sweater Sets

I had seen someone else in this set and loved it on them. I ordered it in 2 color ways, white/cream and 2-tone grey.  This is a cute set.  It is made of knit, sweater-type material.  The top is a looser gauge knit and the bottom is more fine. Again, I ordered size Medium. You could easily wear these outside the house. They are a little less “loungey” than the others. This would be great to wear on vacation, at a resort, etc. It’s by Caracilia and is available in about ten other colors. Link is here.

Lou & Grey Track Suit

The only non-Amazon set is Lou & Grey from LOFT.  I have a LOFT store not far from my house so decided to pop in one day.  When I embarked on this expedition, “track suit” was the last thing I’d imagined. However, this one is super cute.  It also is a great weight, and the drape of the pants is very flattering. In the store they had a coordinating top (in a color that matched the stripe).  They only had size Large bottoms, so I ordered a Medium.  When it arrived and I tried the set on, I was surprised that it actually is cute.   So, I’m keeping the track suit, with the matching top and bottom.

Overall, this was successful and my loungewear game is improved!  I’m definitely keeping a few of these sets.

Now that I have a loungewear game, I’m going to need help with my sneaker game. I don’t have one.  And if I’m going to leave the house in any of these, I’m going to need a sneaker game.
